Two More Ways to Get More for Less
16 cups of cubed stale country white bread
3 cups of chicken broth
2 cups of diced onions
2 cups of celery
2 chopped apples
¼ cup of chopped parsley
Stick of butter
Tablespoon of minced sage
Tablespoon of thyme
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Over medium heat, melt the stick of butter in a large skillet.
Add the diced onions, celery, chopped apples, sage and thyme.
Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
Add the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
Whisk the eggs with the chopped parsley in a large bowl. Add the stale country white bread, then pour in the vegetable broth mixture and toss.
Transfer to a buttered baking dish and dot with more butter.
Cover and bake for 30 minutes. Then uncover and bake until golden for 20 more minutes.
